An interview with Laura Wills ‘thefashionbugblog’

An interview with Laura Wills ‘thefashionbugblog’

I came across Laura’s Instagram feed early last year and shortly after had the pleasure of meeting her in London. So what can I tell you? Well Laura is as lovely in real life as she comes across on her Insta feed (sorry guys she really is!). Easy going, relaxed and friendly, she is happy to chat about clothes, life and children. She is also beautiful, like make you sick gorgeous!

When talking to Laura, it is clear to see that her two biggest passions are her family and fashion.  At the time we met she only had Mila and mentioned that she would love a big family. Shortly after, Laura announced she was pregnant again and if you follow her you will have noticed that she was one of the most stylish mums-to-be out there.

I was so thrilled to have the chance to find out more about Laura and also get her thoughts on what will be in her wardrobe for the upcoming SS18.

1: Tell us a little about yourself?

My parents are from Finland but I grew up here (although I speak Finnish with my parents and children.) I’ve been with my husband for 10 years, got married 2.5 years ago and we have two girls (18 month old Mila and 2 month old Anoushka.) I started the blog 3 years ago and generally document my daily outfits and a little about motherhood.

2: What inspired you to start your blog?

It was really just for myself initially – I wanted to do something creative and I have always loved putting together looks. I began sharing it on Facebook with my friends and quickly realised it was something people were interested in.

3: How do you balance your blog / instagram with your family and personal life?

I love my blog and feel very passionately about it, seeing it grow over the last three years has been so rewarding.  It is definitely a balancing act with a baby and a toddler. I get most of my work done when the girls are napping at lunchtime or in the evenings. I am very lucky that the world of blogging is so flexible.

I get to work from home and I try to be a little more relaxed about it at the moment – if I don’t get regular posts up on the blog it’s not the end of the world, the girls are my priority and they grow up so quickly that I don’t want to miss that moment. I tend to stay very active on instagram and I love the fact that Instagram allows me to communicate quickly with my audience and update them via my stories of what I’m buying, looking at or loving in that moment.

4: What has been your proudest achievement?

In terms of my blog when I reached one thousand followers on Instagram! I will never forget that. But in life definitely my girls. Couldn’t be more proud.

5: Have you always been interested in style & fashion?

YES!!! For as long as I can remember.

6: Where do you get your style inspiration from?
All over really. Instagram. Magazines. Women on the street! But most of the time my looks are more inspired just by seeing clothes I love and putting looks together.

7: In your opinion what are the key must have ‘pieces’ for SS 2018?

A Polka Dot Skirt, a pair of Balenciaga knife pumps, Mum jeans

8: What 4 items in your wardrobe could you not live without?

My YSL sunnies, my Ganni leopard maxi, Chanel pumps and my Balenciaga leather jacket.

9: When you get fed-up of the clothes and shoes in your wardrobe what do you do with them (charity/sell them on?)

Give lots to charity but I also sell via my other Instagram account @thefashionbugblogclothessale and I also use the company Rebelle to sell my designer pieces.

10: Which high-street and designer brands are you favourite go to? For high-street I love Zara, &Otherstories and Topshop. Designer I love Ganni at the moment. Others include Gucci, Caroline Constas, Chloe, Balenciaga to name a few.

11: Are there any small boutique brands we should be all aware of?

I love Olivia Rubin she makes the most stunning dresses and skirts. (not really a boutique brand she sells from her own site.)

Thank you Laura for taking the time to talk to me, I appreciate how life can be busy with two little ones. I feel honoured that you made time to do this.

From statement pieces to high street dupes, Laura will have you covered.  If you don’t already follow her you should. Her style is effortless and elegant and she beautifully mixes high street fashion with designer classics.

I find her account refreshing and love seeing the odd picture of Mila and Anoushka as well.  If you have any thoughts on this interview please leave a comment and feel free to share.

Thank you for reading,

Love Chet x
