How to make a Denim Jumpsuit work for all seasons.

How to make a Denim Jumpsuit work for all seasons.

On a recent trip to London I picked up a simple wide legged denim jumpsuit from Zara.  I tried it on and whilst I’m only 5″2 and it was little long I loved it.  At £29.99 and with lots of ideas as to how I’d style it I didn’t hesitate.

If I’m being completely honest this jumpsuit would probably suit someone who’s taller than me, but I’m so used to getting my clothes altered to fit I figured I’d make it work.

Styled with a statement cardigan, trainers, long necklace and vest top.

The more I thought about how I’d style this Jumpsuit the more I felt it was such a versatile piece that would work over Autumn / Winter as well as into Spring / Summer.  It can be dressed up with heels and feminine top or dressed down for a more casual look.

If like me, you are challenged in the height dept. then a few other tips may help when choosing a jumpsuit.

  • Length – Choose Capri or Ankle length.  The little show of ankle helps to make legs look longer.
  • Wide vs Skinny – Wide legged look may swamp you with the sheer amount of extra fabric, if this is the case look at a skinnier leg.
  • Neckline – Choosing a V neckline or plunging neckline will help to elongate your body and draw attention up to your face.
  • Heels – Add height with heels or wedges and this will help to make your legs look mile-long.

As you can see I didn’t pay any attention to my own advice and went for a wide legged, square neck jumpsuit!

I will most likely have to get it taken up a little and may get the width of the legs taken in a touch but I really like the 70s style and feel of this particular piece as well as the endless options of how to style it.

I have given you my top 10 picks including my Zara version – which is the cheapest by far.

I hope that this has inspired to try style your jumpsuits for the Autumn / Winter period.  Imagine the possibilities – I mean I haven’t even added a blazer yet!

Take Care and thanks for reading.

Same height as me! I too have a problem with the length of jumpsuits. I love it with the tie neck blouse. It looks stunning on you.

Thank you so much Laurie. I think if we adjust clothes and get them taken up etc we can wear most things. I also love taking something masculine and adding a touch of feminine to it. xoxo
